Even when I could not yet see the light, something in me believed it would return.
School started, and it made me stop and think about how quickly time passes.
This is how it felt: part of me was happy that autumn had arrived, bringing a daily rhythm back to our family. Another part felt a little wistful as I thought about our children growing up, both soon to be in lower secondary school.
Gradually, I understood something important. Time passes bewilderingly fast. Somehow you only really grasp it when your own child starts school and the years begin to fly.
To you, perhaps walking a similar road right now: remember yourself in the midst of all these years. Be gentle with the passage of time, and enjoy watching your children grow towards adulthood.
My story may not have been finished in that moment. But I kept moving forward — as myself, a little kinder to myself.
