In Finnish, oma means “one’s own.” Oma koti — your own home. Oma ääni — your own voice. Oma ihminen — someone close to your heart. Your person.
Here in the North, where winter holds the land in silence and summer light lingers through the night, oma carries a quiet kind of belonging.
Perhaps you recognise it beside a darkening sea, in the warmth of a cabin window, or among trees that have no need to know your name. The feeling that you can let your shoulders fall. That you have arrived somewhere you do not have to explain yourself.
Oma Ihminen grew from that feeling: the freedom to belong to yourself, and the warmth of making room for someone beside you.
On your own, yet whole.
